The Euroculture Joint-Degree Programme is an inter-university project. Students spend the first semester at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. In the second semester students study at one of the host universities of the Euroculture consortium:

Mandatory mobility between two or more consortium universities gives students the possibility of gaining diverse academic and personal experiences, which enrich the students level of intercultural competence, establish broad professional networks and increase their options on the global job market.
Euroculture offers students:
- Enrollment over two years (4 semesters) in a Masters Course (120 ECTS) which has been recognised by the European Commission as an "Erasmus Mundus Master of Excellence"
- A transdisciplinary approach involving the disciplines of European and Cultural Studies, History, Political Science, International Relations, Theology, Philosophy, Anthropology, Ethnology, Philology and Literature
- Study in international joint-degree programme within a consortium of eight European and four non-European universities.
- A well-established mobility scheme that enables you to study at two or more different universities within the consortium
- The chance to study in an international environment, learn other languages, engage in intercultural dialogue and experience different cultural practices
- The possibility to obtain an Erasmus Mundus scholarship for the whole Programme or in order to fund a research semester at one of the non-European partner universities
Euroculture enables students to:
- Pursue a professional or a research track in order to deepen their research skills and theoretical knowledge or to acquire relevant professional skills and competences
- Participate in an international summer school (Intensive Programme) of twelve days. The location of the IP alternates between partner universities
- Conduct research on European culture(s) and institutions in more specific terms and to discuss the concepts of Globalization and Americanization
- Study Europes relations with the Near East/India and North America, which are the main regional focuses of the Euroculture Programme due to longstanding special cooperation with the respected non-European universities in the consortium
- Participate in the Master Thesis colloquium during the fourth semester that helps to systematize, organize and streamline the students research process

The MA in Euroculture: Europe in the Wider World is a four semester (2 year), 120 ECTS, full-time transdisciplinary and international Master joint-degree programme.
It stands out from other European Studies programmes by its approach in which the citizen - instead of structures and models - is the central point of attention and reflection.
It offers students the opportunity to study and discuss European integration issues such as multiculturalism, current political governance, European identity and evolving social-political processes.
The international dimension of the programme allows for transnational cross-over comparisons of relevant concepts and their understanding in different regions in the world.
Euroculture is a unique interdisciplinary and inter-university project. It aims to prepare graduates for professions and research areas in which knowledge of contemporary Europe and European Union institutions are of relevance.
The focus of the programme is on cultural and social developments in Europe, its heritage and identity as well as values, citizenship and cultural relations. The relevance of values, identity concepts and perceptions requires sensitive and well-informed professionals in this field to work as diplomats, bureaucrats, project managers, journalists and cultural consultants.
The European Commission has selected the Euroculture Programme for the Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses. The Erasmus Mundus Programme aims to enhance quality in European higher education and to promote intercultural understanding through co-operation with third countries.
The programme consists of four semesters (120 ECTS) during which students study at two to three universities of the consortium and for which they receive a joint-degree from the universities of the consortium.
The thematic scope of the MA in Euroculture programme focuses on the importance of cultural concepts and practices in the many fields of transnational contacts within and beyond Europe. It highlights manifestations of cultural self-understanding as an important element of transnational social and political developments.
The programme transmits knowledge of European culture, heritage, values and identities, and therefore equips students with the cultural-reflexive competences necessary to analyse current transformations of Europe.
From the beginning of the programme in 1999, 'Euroculture' was used as a concept to reflect in an interdisciplinary way on the many different expressions and manifestations of self-understandings of societies, social groups and individuals of, about and within Europe.
Its core questions are:
- Whether, to what extent, and in which forms does a common and unique European culture exist and how is it related to other regional or non-European cultures?
- How are Europe and its cultural transformations perceived within Europe and from the outside?
- What is the impact of political and social processes on European culture(s) and culture(s) in Europe as well as vice versa?
Its main objectives are:
- To form high level graduates for work in the fields of international relations in embassies, ministries, education and culture, as well as other international settings such as European and international organisations, universities, firms and work for projects at the local, regional, national and European levels.
- To develop research and analysis of the immediate and recent past, and of present and possible future trends in the field of EU relations and specific world areas, particularly in the fields of education and culture.
- To develop further links with embassies and ministries of education in EU and third countries in order to improve the language of common understanding and co-operation.
- To share existing tools and models of good practice in the EU and other countries, in order to establish a common base of knowledge and to further develop research.
- To concurrently develop "prior learning practices" that are embedded in the length of the studies, as well as the growing need for flexibility.

The Euroculture Programme (120 ECTS) is open to students from all over the world who have successfully completed a university BA programme in the fields of European Studies, History, Theology, Philology, Literature, Philosophy, International Relations, Political Studies, Law, Cultural Studies, Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology.
The language of instruction is English.
All courses, the Intensive Programme and the MA thesis are in English, and therefore a fluent knowledge of the language is necessary. Language proficiency should be certified. See required documents.
Knowledge of other foreign languages is useful.
